New Roots for Refugees is a sustainable urban farm designed to empower refugee women from Africa and Asia. We grow a mix of traditional and ethnic vegetables, and emphasize soil health and fertility. We never use synthetic fertilizers or toxic pesticides.
With 16 different farmers selling at 11 different area markets, New Roots for Refugees produce is available for sale at Farmers Markets throughout the Kansas City metro area. Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members pick-up their shares at any of these markets.
CSA members build a partnership with one farmer, and pick up vegetables from the same farmer every week. This gives the eater an opportunity to know who is cultivating your food and the refugee a chance to interact more long-term with English speaking Americans. You are also welcome and encouraged to visit the farm and spend time working alongside your farmer!
