Quite Contrary Farmstead is a fledgling farm located just 15 minutes from downtown Kansas City. We are passionate about growing and raising incredible edibles, and dedicated to doing so through sustainable and restorative practices. We use organic growing methods, and incorporate permaculture techniques whenever possible, but find that sweat and tears also make for a surprisingly effective fertilizer.
CSA shares are limited, so act quickly!
We offer a 22-week CSA season. Customers can also find our produce and eggs at markets and kitchens that are as passionate about local food as we are.
Contact us for details.
The CSA season is 22 weeks long, and runs from mid-May through early October. Members can commit to the full season ($506 plus tax for 22 weeks), or have the option to sign up for the First or Second 11-week session ($253 plus tax per 11-week session.)
Members can look forward to enjoying a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, ranging from tried-and-true favorites (like tomatoes, potatoes, garlic, cucumbers and onions), to novel noshes (like tomatillos, husk cherries and several varieties of hot peppers), as well as bountiful herbs and edible flowers. We will also incorporate safely and responsibly foraged foods into the line-up whenever possible so members have a sense of what is on Mother Nature's menu at any given time. We hope this will empower them to explore the unique palate of the green spaces that surround them every day.
This will be Quite Contrary Farmstead's inaugural growing season. Although having to start from scratch is quite a daunting task, it also means members and dedicated customers will have the opportunity to watch and help us grow, and to flourish along with us. By purchasing a share, you are ensuring that you will feast on fresh local fare all season long, while also simultaneously supporting a small business, a small family and a small farm.
