The Farm is a first generation farm established in 2004. The Little Muddy is between Knob Noster and Windsor Missouri on SE 23 Hiway.  This 69 acre spread was formerly part of a larger farm that grew corn, wheat and soybeans.  Conventional farming practices were employed and as a result the soils and minerals were depleted and the ground was allowed to lie fallow for 20 years. It was over planted with sudan grass. Since the time that I have been the environmental manager, I have used organic-sustainable practices to renew the vigor and vitality of the soil. Currently I do not raise any animals or offer any animal products. Fruit trees have been planted as well as elderberries, asparagus, garlic, grapes, rhubarb. I also have a number of bees for pollination. Join our CSA in 2010 and the produce will come from my all natural garden “Shiloh’s Garden” in Lee’s Summit or from my approved network of farmers.

PRODUCE LISTING and CSA DETAILSFrom the LocalHarvest listing for The Little Muddy Farm:

The Little Muddy Farm offers fresh home grown produce for sale at the Lee’s Summit Farmers’ Market. The location is downtown at Second and Douglas, April thru October, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Two acres are under production using sustainable agricultural practices to produce healthy and natural fruits, berries and vegetables. We currently are taking orders for organic wheat grass and organic sprouts.

In 1975 I received a Degree in Plant and Soil Science, from then, Southwest Missouri State University. Thirty years later I bought a soybean field along The Little Muddy Creek and started planting fruit trees and growing vegetables. My hope is that this farm will become a community of like minded individuals who care about the food they feed their families and how it impacts all of our lives.

Spring salad greens, vegetable & herbal bedding plants will be available April 15 at our market in Lee’s Summit. Currently Organic Wheat Grass and Organic Sprouts are available for pickup. Allow 2 weeks for special orders. 2009 is expected to be our best year yet.
