If you have a good network connection* and are looking for our clickable FOOD-FINDER map-point collections featuring KCFC member growers' locations where you can purchase or pickup food near you, CLICK HERE or scroll down to the map collection links near the bottom of this page.

* The LIVE map point collection is a great tool, but it is agonizingly slow on a dial-up connection. We are working on less graphic-intensive solutions and, while we do, you can still browse The Directory or our Know Your Grower sections of our bulletin board.

Otherwise, there are a number of different ways to find the food you are looking for using KC Food Circle resources.

The Kansas City Food Circle Directory of Local Organic and Free-Range Food Producers - a printable .PDF (KCFC-Directory.pdf 200KB) - edited and published every spring - includes an alphabetical listing of our growers and a brief description for each.
The expanded online version of The Directory - a frequently updated and easily browseable version of our annual Directory, broken out into sections on our bulletin board. A text-only (mostly) version of the Producers Listings is also found here.

NOTE: Our old bulletin board has its own built-in search function (look for Search at the top of every BB page), which only provides results found in articles held within the bulletin board itself. KCFC's Featured Farmers' Markets - In Kansas City we are fortunate to have access to four Farmers Markets that only accept vegetable and fruit farmers who agree to grow using organic methods. Organic growers avoid the use of conventional fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, and other biocides, and strive to preserve the health of the living soil. In addition, the farmers at these markets who produce meat, eggs, and dairy products agree to avoid the use of synthetic growth promotants such as hormones and subtherapeutic antibiotics. The market listings provided on our site are written by representatives of the markets, and the Food Circle, being an all-volunteer organization, is unable to evaluate or certify each market’s standards and practices. For additional information about these issues or to find out what is meant by any particular term in a market listing, please contact the market directly with your questions.
Know Your Grower - our member food producers are given almost unlimited space in this section of the bulletin board to provide details about their growing operations, produce, sales and anything else they think you might find interesting - when available, you will also find links their own web sites.(this section of the old bulletin board is being migrated to the new bulletin board in 2008. http://groups.google.com/group/KCFC-Bulletin-Board/web/draft---kcfc-producers-directory

SEARCHING THE BULLETIN BOARD - When searching the bulletin board, any result listing which includes "Know Your Grower" indicates that THAT grower has listed that particular thing. (Example: use the bulletin board's search function to look for [tomato*] - we use the * wildcard to ensure search "hits" for tomato, tomatos, tomatoe and tomatoes - try it, and you'll find a number of search results which include Know Your Grower entries.

FARM TOURS and VISITS - If you are looking for farms to visit near KC, search the Bulletin Board for visit* and tour* - you can also check the details provided below in the map collection - many of our growers welcome farm visits - always phone first to arrange a tour.

Things you should know before you start using our Food-Finder map collections at Windows LIVE:

We are working to provide map coordinates and links to all "markets" where you can buy local food produced by our member growers.*
Not all KC Food Circle member growers provide direct sales (on the farm, farm stand, weekly farmers' market...) - some prefer to provide CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares.
Member growers who DO provide direct sales recommend that you call in advance and confirm every order by PHONE.
The world turns, the sun shines, seasons change... ergo these pages and links will always be a work in progress.
KC Food Circle makes no guarantee that products listed on our web site are available from minute to minute, day to day, etc...
PHONE FIRST for critical items, Confirm all orders by direct contact with the grower
