Stranger Creek Heritage Farm is a small family farm located between Lawrence and the Kansas City area. We grow heirloom/organic vegetables, greens and herbs for our CSA members. The farm also consists of a small orchard with 27 fruit trees; blueberry, blackberry and raspberry bushes and strawberries.

The farm has been Certified Naturally Grown since 2016. This means that we do not use any synthetic fertilizers or pesticides not approved for organic uses.

The CNG designation is different than the Certified Organic designation, in that it is specfically geared for community-based farms selling locally vs. agribussiness opperations that supply wholesale markets. Otherwise the goals are the same, growing & providing fresh food without the use of pesticides and synthetic chemicals.

The majority of our produce is grown in raised beds that have been filled with compost over the last 5-6 years. We have also added a small (30' x 50') high tunnel (unheated greenhouse) this fall, which will extend our growing season on both the beginning and ending of the season.

FARMERS MARKET
We will be selling our CNG fruits, vegetables and herbs at the Merriam Farmers Market every Saturday morning beginning May 2018. We invite everyone to visit our booth and to see all of the other offerings at the Market.

CSA (SUBSCIPTION SERVICE)
Stranger Creek Heritage farm will again offer a CSA program in 2018, which provides a weekly basket of fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs to our subscribers. There are a few openings remaining for 2018, so be sure to sign up soon. The details have not been finalized for 2018, but will be available by January 2018.

All subscribers to our service are welcome to visit the farm and see how your food is grown & how the farm is operated.

We are one of two produce farms in Kansas who have been Certified Naturally Grown, and focus on growing heirloom produce. Being a small family farm, we are able to provide individual attention to our members.
Following is a list how our CSA works to be customer friendly:
Box choice: We strive to provide variety in our boxes. To accomplish this, We provide 2 different box types each week and rotate the boxes so you do not get the same box week after week.
Flexible weeks: In 2018, we may offer an every-other-week option for those who cannot use their entire basket in one week.
Flexible share sizes: We offer 2 different share sizes so each member can select the size that works for them.
Payment plan: Our plan reduces up-front cost, and takes monthly payments. Of course, you are always welcome to pay for the entire session in advance.
Online payment: We accept online payment through Venmo. This is an easy & free payment method.
Cooking information: We provide recipes each week by email. In addition, our blog will include information about storing & preserving food.
Pickup convenience: We work to offer several pick locations & times that work for all members
