COMMUNICATION/EDUCATION: We have a monthly newsletter with farm updates and recipes. Our food industry has removed the consumer so far away from the farmer that most children have no concept of how things are grown or how to eat those vegetables for that matter. We do our best to educate people on the perks of knowing your farmer and raising awareness healthy farming practices.
NOTE: We are just begining our CSA program -- we are growing 90 different types of heirloom tomatoes, 6 types of cucumbers, 6 types of summer squash, 20 heirloom lettuces and peppers of every color. We're working hard to provide things that are not in the stores. Each share comes with fresh herbs and a bouquet of cottage flowers. We are small enough that we have a opportunity to get to know each of our shareholders and that is very important to us. Shareholders are welcome here on the farm to see our gardens and practices. NON-TYPICAL FOODS: Meat and eggs shares are available from Parker Farms. Bread shares available from Bread of Life Bakery. Order these shares directly from the producers with pickup at your CSA distribution.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: We operate the CSA with the help of a Core Group of members who take care of duties such as running the annual sign-up meeting, coordinating the farm work schedule, coordinating weekly off-farm distribution, planning social events (End of Season Dinner), and other duties.
Full shares are required to work three 4-hour farm shifts (mainly harvesting); partial shares required to work two 4-hour farm shifts; City pickup members also required to work one 3.5-hour distribution shift.
EDUCATION: We have an apprentice for 2008. Volunteers and educational groups are always welcome. Please call ahead.

Share: Full Share = $325 for 20 weeks, 1/2 share = $175.
A 70% deposit is due by April 15th ($225 on a full share) - the balance is due on May 10th. Designed to provide the weekly vegetable needs of an average family of four, or a family of two adult veggie-lovers. You get 7-11 pounds of food per week. Shares will be lighter and leafier in June, heavier Aug-Oct.
Growing Practices: Exclusive organic practices - not certified, with a very limited use of water when possible. (Our operation depends solely upon Mother Nature).
Farming since 1984, 2007 was our first year of CSA.
Non-Typical Foods - We feature produce with health benefits: Pak Choi Flower - allergy remedy, Lemon grass - common cold remedy, Bitter Melon fruit - high blood pressure and diabetic remedy and Bitter Melon leaf - well known for green tea.
Community / Education: Volunteers are welcome on the farm, Monday thru Friday morning, between the hours of 8:15am and 12:00 noon. We do not work in the hot afternoon due to heat stress. Internships and Apprenticeships are done on a voluntary basis. An apprentice may choose to work in the morning or in the evening when the field is cooler.

NUMBER OF YEARS FARMING: Lifelong farmers. Have been practicing management-intensive grazing since 1997.

Family share: Full share is $460. and half share is $230. Half share is same as full share, except given every other week.
We ask for payment before the season begins. If there is a problem financially, we can tailor a payment plan to fit your needs.

Fourteen years farming experience, 2008 is our fifth year of CSA. We started in 2003 and skipped a year when Marie hurt her back.

Other than area veggies: We have extremely delicious STRAWBERRIES, when Mother Nature allows. We have EGGS when the girls are laying. Sometimes we give BAKED GOODS in a share, like whole wheat bread, cookies or homemade corn meal made in our Missouri Health Department certified kitchen. We take requests for certain vegetables or small fruit and try to grow them for the customers.
Community / Education: We don’t require our members in the city to help because it is so far, but they are welcome to come help if they wish. Just call first. Local work shares are available. We plan to hold a food preservation class this year. We plan to teach how to can, dry and freeze the harvest.
Communication: A weekly newsletter goes out with the shares. Included are recipes using the contents of the share, member’s submitted articles, and stories about the farm.
